Didn't quite expect to love it this much! :) I find it a rare case of 'on the motifs' type of adaptation (which I tend to hate vehemently) that actually works, and overall isn't necessarily worse or better, just alternative. It also proves that respecting creatively both the original material and its fandom is possible. In this case it has an underlying vibe of trying to kinda sorta retcon MCU!Hawkeye into Fraction!Hawkeye... (Aya-ified credits; tracksuit bros; car chase scenes; Lucky; LARPers replacing Bed Stuy tenants; Christmas setting) ...but there are infinite ways in which such an attempt could go very badly, and it mostly didn't, I think.

Not a movie to be in awe for but also not a movie to be pissed at. Tbh, it would be rather forgettable if I hadn't watched it for character(s) and lore anyway. Not much thought on it besides bulletpoints:

I've been still checking in on flist once in a while (such a sweet name for stalking silently you lot) and promising myself that some day, just some next day, just not this day... Not this exact day when I'm so tired. Again. Again...
Meanwhile, somehow it turned out I'm more on Tumblr than anywhere else these days. Admittedly, one huge reason for it being that Tumblr has strongly LJfied over years, and improved in other ways on top of that. So, when I decided to post there a fandom question poll - this one, or version for not logged in - I thought, hey, finally something I can bring also to DW/LJ! Ahaha, nope. Turns out, with my account type I can't poll on DW. So rude. I can on LJ, but I don't wanna have on LJ anything that I cannot have on DW, so there. :P

Wednesday, 6 July 2022 19:43The entry in question had had been updated a few times, which I hadn't really announced before, but this time the direct cause was fixing the code after the DW migration, which made an opportunity to account for the worldwide surge of new editions after the BBC show, and that's how the final result is now a major overhaul rather than just update. If anyone is interested, have fun!

# The journal has been transferred in total – except the friendlist, and not by a technical error, but because I think you should have a say in it. What’s your decision then? Can I friend your DW if you have one? Or do you want me to DW-friend your LJ? Or both? For everyone who stays silent, I’m leaving things as they are: contact just on LJ. It’s okay to wait or change your mind later as well. 1. Read this on something with a good sound system and if possible, boost the subwoofer. Headphones will make a difference as well.
2. Since it’s a long entry containing a lot of vids, I have no delusions (or hard feelings if not) that everyone’s going to feel like playing all. Thus, a quick cheat for anyone wishing just to check what is this about and whether the others are worth bothering: the vid that presents and sells the most effectively what I want to present and sell is marked red in the text. The caveat regarding good sound still applies, though.
