So I got a holidays, sort of. Remember that place I’ve written once about? It’s not that I had inspected it properly inside out, there’s much more to see and have fun there. And obviously I couldn’t let it escape me. :) So, again, you’re about to being treated to a typical set of someone’s holiday pics. Yeah, I’m that sadistic.

It’s 21 July 2013, all ones in this entry. Below is a view on Palenica Mt., which is apparently regarded so popular that it doesn’t need own Wiki page in English, since everyone knows it fine anyway. But you can have a virtual walk instead. ;) The photo has been taken right from the Polish-Slovakian border, facing the north. The slope is used for skiing in winter, and I can’t say I liked what the infrastructure made with the look of the place, but well, at least the red roof makes a nice accent for a photo. It’s an inn. Behind it, the more futuristic looking blue-metal-and-glass roof half hidden in the forest is the top station of a chairlift. Far away to the left you can see the village of Krościenko.

Once you’ve decided you’re bored with Palenica, you can go back down. To climb another mountain, of course. And since it’s a land of water springs, this tiny cabin is a well. I think so. It was rustling and gurgling inside.

It’s also a land of butterflies. Seriously, all you need to see a swallowtail there is climb some peak. Whichever. I’ve seen some ten times my up-to-time lifetime share of swallowtails, really. (Oh, and I lied, sorry - butterflies aren't from the same day; it's only the first three, and the rest is from following days. But the other, non-butterfly photos are honestly 21 July).

Not only butterflies though. This one thought itself well hidden… No such luck! :> A fly of the genus Dialysis, I suppose.

And once you’re out of forest, you can snatch some ice cream and sit in a park, staring at this, until it stares back. :) It could, really, there was enough of eyes. It had plenty and plenty of colorful koi fishes underwater and dragonflies huge like helicopters, hovering above the surface.

As I said, Pieniny Mountains have too much fun to cram it all in one trip, and all the more in one post. That’s why this one is a part, the first one. Stay tuned. I hope? :)

Butterflies (and fly) are soo beautiful! Great shots, clear and sharp, and well-balanced colours (and that's rare nowadays).

As for colours, I tend to stare hesitating what to do with it until my eyes bleed, and later I'm always not-quite-satisfied... Especially if I'm stupid enough to browse others' photos. ;) The path with the well was actually more than a bit off, all cyan-ed due of tricky forest light, so I drained the colour almost entirely in places, mostly on the bare ground, and still I'm not sure if it was good decision...

Eh. I cannot give you any professional advice, but now, when you mention that - maybe the sky (I know, you wrote about the path, but I for me it looks completely fine) is a little too bright? But that could be effect of the lj background or my screen [lack of] calibration...

The sky on the same photo, you mean? Yes, it definitely is. I can assure you it was even worse when having cyan fringes. *g* The trouble is that's hardly possible to get a good sky AND good everything else, given such range of contrasted light (the real light in situ, of course, not the artificial contrast done with software afterwards). It could be solved with *le gasp* HDR, but again, that would be devilishly hard to get in this particular case, given that the photo is a stitched 110° panorama of eight single takes. That would demand a tripod, and a big one, not just a pocketable toy (yeah, me and a tripod half of my height, taken as a buddy for a mountain hike; I'm totally seeing it...). As usual, this photo is a result of many compromises... And as usual, I just hope the next'll be better. ;)

Darn, and now I feel bad - I really like all of your photos, you know? (you practically force me to voice a little complain ; )).

Aww, but there's nothing to feel bad about! I love getting any chance to discuss details, and you give it. Thank you for that! *great hug* :D Come on, anyway it's supposed to be a blog or smt. Anything that fuels talk is good. ;)

These are breathtaking! Your butterflies are just beautiful :) I don't think I've ever managed to photograph a butterfly, they move so fast I can never catch them! I love the picture of the pond at the bottom too, it looks very peaceful.

Little bastards are worshippers of sun and oblivious flowery drunkards. That's half of the secret. The other half is approaching them stealthily, looking noncommittal and hardly breathing. This way you're breathless to curse when your prey happily flutters away just in the last moment. That's why butterfly photographers are mistakenly deemed a refined and courteous folk. ;)

So that's the secret! I was clearly going wrong with the breathing. I will make sure I stop that next time I see a butterfly!

Your butterflies are amazing! I don't know how you manage to 'catch' them. No matter how hard I chase them with the lens they always evade me! All the other photos are amazing too and the fly. I love the last one, such a perfect balance of plant, stone, water and reflection - stunning:)

For the secret of hunting butterflies check the reply for [livejournal.com profile] anteros_lmc, up there! ;D And the pond was one of these places that just ask to be made into a picture and framed. :)

You know Krościenko? Great! I'll think about you next time there. ;D

post in Polish about romance novel
The last one? Actually it's about romance in non-romance novels, but I hope you won't be disappointed too much. *embarrassed grin* Maybe you'll find some nice readings for you? I'd be delighted! :)
