aletheiafelinea: moving gif; a pencil drawing of a human eye shutting and then opening as a cat eye that shuts to open as the human one again, the cycle repeats endlessly (Default)

Having icons excluded, turns out that a half (most?) of fanarts is traditional media works. But sometimes, rarely, they seem to come rather from art galleries than from the Internet.
Be warned, this issue of the recs is R-rated.

Part 1, Surprises
Part 2, Other media

Important

Tiptoeing the problematic line between brazen hotlinking and posting a list of plain links for which no one will give neither a damn or a click *cough*and they'd need more description then*cough*, I decided to post a list of active teasers which, hopefully, are teasing enough to repay dA in clicking. A lot of clicking. PLEASE??? *desperate look* And putting the matter of dA's bandwidth aside, not that I deem this journal so extraordinarily popular to really strain it anyway, just do it to give these artists some love. If you can't comment or fav on dA, still you can click - let them know that their work is viewed. It matters too, really.
And yet a technical note: if you can't see any images, don't panic, there's a few possible ways.
1. Reload.
2. Try another browser.
3. Click titles.
4. If still nothing helps, let me know, please.

So, let's go?

Actually, it's a digital drawing, not traditional, but... ;)

Pirate Luncheon on the Grass by umetnica

Are you familiar with Édouard Manet's Le déjeuner sur l'herbe (The Luncheon on the Grass)? I'm very sorry, but due of the Mature Content Filter you can see the work only if you're logged on dA. But since we're a motley band of foul pirates, we'll try to get around it. ;) So, first click the thumbnail or the title... Done? Great. Now, click here. What for was the first click, you're asking? Well, the artist deserves to have the work's stats true. We're also dishonest pirates, aren't we? :)

They're all impressive! The luncheon one is very clever and Sunset Bay is compelling. I liked Jack by idirt best, I think - something about the expression!

Of all Jack's portraits, my favourite is idirt's one too, due of the very specific (and skilfully used) tools. But I like also the work by Click-Chan due of atmosphere, and I always love everything with the scene shown in LittleSeaSparrow's one. 'Sunset Bay' is fascinating, with all that paint visible. I like also 'up is down', watercolors always captivate me.

Among these fine artworks, 'Alone In The Night' stands out for me. I like the way it captures the loneliness of bearing the ultimate responsibility for your ship's well-being.

Indeed. I'm always interested when an artist takes up this theme. This scene is one of my favourite in the all PotC. I wish to get more of Captain!Jack in the canon.
