My two cents: To be honest I know this only from a Polish translation, but I’m pretty sure the Russian original must be even better. :) Of what I gathered, the fic has already some fame beyond Russia, and there were some tries of English translation (1, 2), alas, I haven’t found a complete one yet.

And this is a Polish copypasta being over fifteen years old (for the first time I saw this around 1998, in a printed magazine, though it claimed there it's from a messageboard in the Internet; I think this might be even the scan of that one). There wasn’t many times in my whole life I laughed over anything this hard, and I’ll never stop including this in any Tolkien recs I happen to do. :)


Announcement: I need a summary of “Lord of the Rings”. Very urgent. Please, help.
Answer: A certain young hobbit learns that in order to save the world he has to throw a certain ring into a certain hole. The hole is bloody far away, so he walks there for three volumes, but at last he manages.

I love that 'summary' and I'm tempted to make it into an icon - a minifesto one where the words load gradually. I haven't decided on the colours yet but that blue from the Kili picture would maybe be nice.

Hey, it's even nicer after a longer time! ;)

I don't think I'd be able to choose my one and only, but megatruh's storytelling scapes and Thorin with wind (the whole gallery with wind!) would be among the closest to the top.

And yay, you're right it would make an excellent icon! (Yours is great, too!)
