I like/love a lot of the Dresdenverse female characters, but the longer the series goes on, the more apprehensively I'm loving them. Like, I really, really like Molly... but I'm not sure I like where her arc seems to be going (I don't mean the Winter Lady thing necessarily, that can actually be cool, but other stuff). And I've been a fan of Harry and Murphy for a long time, but now that it's actually happening, I don't like the implications for Murphy at all.

(It's weird, because I've read Butcher's Alera books, and while I like them a lot less on the whole, I don't have the same problem with the way he writes women in that one. I'm still not satisfied with some of the resolutions they get, but that seems to be more about punishing the bad guys and rewarding the good guys than a gendered thing. So I guess it's the combination of Butcher's straight white male-ness and Dresdenverse's noir roots that brings it out... I haven't read the new steampunk yet, but it'll be interesting to see how that one plays.)
