This one has been on my wishlist for at least 5 years:
fandom: LotR/Stargate SG-1 crossover
general idea: Stargate comes to Middle Earth, people get to know each other, stuff happens, they have to work together. I'm not very clear about what sort of stuff, I'm hopeless at plots.
characters:Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, maybe Merry and Pippin, the original SG-1 team (Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c)
The set-up:The War is over, Gondor is rebuilt etc. etc. But Elessar Telcontar is king of Gondor AND Arnor, yet he has no northern capital. He also has a lot of blokes hanging around with nothing much to do these days, being as it doesn't take a huge army just to deal with the few remaining bands of marauding orcs. So he decides to excavate and rebuild Annúminas, the old seat of the northern kings. He'd need some dwarves for this, so Gimli gets involved, and Gimli and Legolas seem to have gone everywhere together once the war was over. And it's not that far from the Shire, so the hobbits join them for old time's sake. During excavations they unearth a big stone ring thingie covered in arcane symbols...

Once the gate's uncovered it is found by Sam's re-dial program. After that it's up to the writer, although I do have more notes.

Not that there will ever be a writer since both of these fandoms are pretty moribund.
