aletheiafelinea: moving gif; a pencil drawing of a human eye shutting and then opening as a cat eye that shuts to open as the human one again, the cycle repeats endlessly (Default)

Photo: fog and light

Very busy recently, but yesterday I needed to take some documental pics (nothing serious, no worries) so I had the camera on me, and a most awesome sunset happened... ^^

Do you feel, too, that houses often happen where you need them the least? *g* Not to mention power lines and billboards and such... If not two damned roofs I could have it cropped less and the composition would be nicer. Still, I like the light. Though it's still not as great as it looked on site. I need something with a decent CCD. Then again, I wouldn't have taken a heavy monster with a decent CCD for crappy documental pics anyway, so... In spite of that, I must say I'm surprised something presentable worked out at all - you can't really see (this counts as success *g*) but it's zoomed pretty hard.

That is beautiful! I love the tree lines at the top.

I love when mist does this with forests. I keep trying to catch this effect on a photo, but it's tricky. Not to mention it's a pretty rare phenomenon, so there's not many opportunities.

That is really pretty and so atmospheric!

This is really lovely, like a painting!

Painted with tree brushes dipped in mist! :D

I agree it's so frustrating when you have to crop, tilt the camera, use a sub-optimal angle or whatever 'trick' is necessary to get photos of nature without signs of human activity. But it's certainly not obvious that you've needed to make any compromises in this shot. It reminds me very much of the work of Colin Baxter, who, if you didn't already know, is a prolific Scottish landscape photographer.

I didn't know him. I see he does exactly my favourite sort of photographs, and what I'd love to achieve some day. I feel very honoured by the comparison! :)

If you like Colin Baxter, I can also highly recommend checking out Colin Prior, another remarkable Scottish landscape photographer who is known for shooting at dawn and dusk.

Yay! *takes notes* Who could think posting this will be so profitable in recs! I must do it more often... :D

Wow. This is fabulous. I love the graduated shading formed by the mist and the trees. Seriously impressive. Well done!

Beautiful! That's the only way to describe it! So winter stark and bright at the same time. Lovely composition.

I like proving once in a while that winter can be beautiful too. ;D

Love the mist!! Beautiful picture<3

Thanks! Mist sometime creates great opportunities. :)

Power lines definitely lurk and then get into position just as you're about to take a photograph - or even disguise themselves until you look at the shot afterwards!!

This was nice - and makes me jealous. My super-camera is on the blink again and we haven't had time to go and sort it out.

This, exactly!

Sad news... I hope it'll turn out it's something easily fixable.

(Looking through some old picture posts of you ;) )

Oooooooh! That's a nice one! I love the several layers/shades of grey in the background. It inspires me to try something similar with paper.

And black trees in the foreground are always nice.
