My jaw is dropping! I have long been a fan of Mordewind but I had no idea there were so many different Polish shanty-singers, or that so many traditional tunes had been done in Polish.

The translation issue is interesting, especially when things have changed significantly. (The page you link on Santianna has some very cool stuff in the covers section!) Mostly I assume when songs are translated they are true to the original (yes, it's a bit odd hearing the strongly Irish 'Follow me up to Carlow' in Polish!) but there are cases even in English where locations are changed - for example, the traditional 'Spanish Ladies' turning into 'Rant and Roar' with various Newfoundland/Canadian substitutes for references to England.

I particularly liked 'Pacyfik' - a great take on 'Rattlin' Bog'!
