You're right! I thought maybe I just can't resist dragons, but that's not quite true - E.Nesbit's dragons left me less than impressed, as you might recall from my other blog. By the way, if my mini-reviews were the ones that made you think of writing reviews you would be welcome to link to them! But maybe someone else does some longer proper reviews - mine are just really meant to chart what I read through the year so that I can reflect on any influences on my own writing.
I like Dawkins' religious or rather anti-religious writing though I sometimes find it rather over the top - but then with me he is preaching to the converted and I know his intent is to give ammunition to people who want to argue with fundamentalists but don't know how. The Ancestor's Tale tells the story of evolution as though it was a work by Chaucer. If you can, get hold of an edition with coloured illustrations. Mine has them and is a work of art in many respects - a friend has a black and white edition and it lacks something... I also liked The Blind Watchmaker.
